What Is Fiberglass Mesh?

Fiberglass mesh is a woven reinforcement material made

plastering, cement products, GRC components, stone backing and drywall

boards, plaster systems and façade renovation.

2. EIFS and Exterior Wall Insulation Mesh

EIFS mesh is embedded into the base-coat layer of an exterior insulation

3. GRC Reinforcement Mesh

GRC mesh is used to reinforce glass-fiber-reinforced cement components,
decorative cement products, panels, columns and other molded construction
elements.

This type often uses a larger mesh opening or heavier construction than

4. Stone and Mosaic Backing Mesh

Fiberglass mesh can be bonded to the back of marble, granite, mosaic and
other stone products to support handling and processing.

5. Self-Adhesive Fiberglass Mesh Tape

Self-adhesive fiberglass mesh tape is a narrower, adhesive-backed product
used for drywall joints, gypsum board seams and localized crack repair.

General Installation Guidance

Installation methods vary between plaster systems, EIFS, GRC, stone backing
and drywall repair. The following steps are general guidance for wall
reinforcement mesh and do not replace the instructions of the complete
construction system.

  1. Prepare a clean, dry and structurally sound substrate.
  2. Cut the fiberglass mesh to the required dimensions, including the
    specified overlap allowance.
  3. Apply the approved base coat, mortar or plaster according to the system
    supplier’s instructions.
  4. Place the mesh into the wet material and smooth it from the center toward
    the edges.
  5. Maintain the required overlap at joints, corners, doors and windows.
  6. Cover the mesh with the specified finishing layer so that the mesh is
    fully embedded where required.
  7. Allow the system to cure under the temperature, humidity and weather
    conditions specified by the material manufacturer.
Installation details, overlap dimensions and curing requirements must
